How Laser Hair Removal Works:

The Diode laser hair removal system that we offer has several advantages over other hair removal lasers because of its profile for safety and efficacy. Laser hair removal can treat a wide range of skin complexions from fair to dark. The advanced ChillTip hand piece is an integral part of the laser system which makes treatments more comfortable, faster and more efficient. As the name implies, the ChillTip cools the skin in the region being treated which counteracts the inherent heat of the laser pulse, yielding dramatically improved comfort during treatment. Our Diode laser hair removal system is virtually painless, works on all skin types and can even be used on darker skin tones.

suspicious lesions, keloid scar formation, healing problems, active infections, open lesions, hives, herpetic lesions, cold sores, tattoos or permanent make-up in area of treatment

  • Autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Scleroderma, Vitiligo.
  • You are not pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or nursing.
  • Have not received any type of hair removal, except for simple shaving, in the last 6-10 weeks (depending on area treated) including plucking, tweezing, waxing, depilatories, electrolysis, or other laser hair removal, as this can decrease results.
  • Have not had any sun exposure in the last month or self-tanning, this may increase the chance of hypo/hyperpigmentation.

How should you select where you will go for laser hair removal?

Unfortunately, there are no Government Regulations as to who can own or operate a laser in Ontario. There is no minimal training required by regulatory agencies and virtually anyone who has the capital can purchase a laser and start doing laser hair removal. For those reasons, you have to be very careful where you go for treatment

There are several questions you should ask before considering where to start your hair removal journey:

  • How long has the clinic been doing laser hair removal?
  • Is the person operating the laser someone who is specialized in skin care and laser therapy such as a Laser Technician?
  • What are the qualifications of the person who is treating you?
  • Is there diplomas/ certificates on the wall?
  • What type of laser are they using?
    • Is it a LightSheer Diode – the most effective laser?
    • Are they using IPL (intense pulsed light), which is much less effective – but marketing it as a “laser”?
  • Who will manage any complications if they should happen to arise?
  • Does the technician do a full and in depth consultation with you to ensure that you understand the pros and cons of treatment, the risks and benefits?
  • Do they take photographs to help monitor improvement?
  • Does a dermatologist check you first to make sure that you are a good candidate for laser therapy?
  • Do they make you do the Fitzpatrick Skin Test before your treatment or just guess at your skin type by eye?

**A laser can be potentially dangerous if not used by well trained technicians!**
