
PRE- TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- If you suffer from Autoimmune diseases such as: Lupus, Scleroderma, or Vitiligo you are not a Candatite for Laser Hair Removal.
- If you suffer from the disorder Epilepsy you are not a Candatite for Laser Hair Removal. We do not want to risk your safety. The laser creates flashes of light that can trigger seziures.
- If you have a history of Melanoma, raised moles, suspicious lesions, keloid scar formation, healing problems, active infections, open lesions, hives, herpetic lesions, cold sores, tattoos or permanent make-up in area of treatment we will not be able to do that area, we will go around it.
- No recent use of Accutane, Tetracycline, or St. John’s wort in 6 months prior to your treatment.
- If you used the following hair removal methods: pluck, wax, depilatory, or underwent electrolysis in the areas to be treated you must wait at least 6 weeks before having Laser Hair Removal (shaving is okay).
- Please come in cleanly shaven where the area is to be treated. Clients who are not clean-shaven may be rebooked or charged a $20.00 shaving fee.
- Do not tan or use self tanner in areas to be treated for 4 weeks prior to your treatment.
- Avoid exfoliating agents like Retin-A, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, toners or any irritating creams or chemicals in the area to be treated for at least 1 week prior to the treatment.
- No photosensitzing medications 1 week prior to the treatment.
INTRA- TREATMENT CARE:
- Please come in cleanly shaven where the area is to be treated. Clients who are not clean-shaven may be rebooked or charged a $20.00 shaving fee.
- The use of a topical anesthetic is optional (Available for sale at our clinic).
- Do not apply any perfumes, deodorant or make-up to the desired area the day of your treatment.
- Safety considerations are important during the laser procedure: Protective eye wear will be worn by the patient and all personnel in the treatment room, during the procedure to reduce the chance of any damages to the eyes. In addition, your provider will take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety.
POST- TREATMENT CARE:
- Immediately after treatment, there should be erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of each hair follicle in the treatment site, which may last up to 2 hours, or longer. The erythema may last up to 2 – 3 days. The treated area may feel like a sunburn for a few hours after your treatment. A topical soothing skin care product such Vensa Healing Cream or Aloe Vera may be used to help soothe any redness or swelling. Cooling packs/ ice may also be applied. Please wrap the pack in a cloth/ paper towel before applying it to the skin.
- Makeup may be used immediately after the treatment as long as the skin is not irritated.
- Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation) for up to 4 weeks following your treatment.
- Use a sunblock (SPF 30+) at all times throughout the course of your treatment.
- Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any loofahs or abrasive scrubs for at least 5 days. Even if the area becomes dry and crusty.
- Do not use any other hair removal treatment products or similar treatments (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle that is in the treatment area after the laser treatment is performed. Shaving may be used.
- Anywhere from 5 – 14 days after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or Loofa sponge.
- After the axillae (underarms) are treated, you may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 48 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.
- Avoid strenuous sports activities, hot water, saunas, and jacuzzi for 2 days.
- There are no restrictions on bathing except to make sure the water is cool and that you treat the skin gently. Do not exfoliant, use loofahs or abrasive scrubs for 5 days after your treatment. This includes the men’s Dove body wash with the exfoliating beads.
- Contact our office at (289) 707 – 1342 if the area shows signs of infection or blistering.
- Return to the office or call for an appointment in 4 to 8 weeks. If you did not already book one after the treatment, call us or text the office at (289) 707 – 1342.
