CHAIR SIDE WHITENING

Here are some pre and post teeth whitening treatment care tips to help you achieve the best results. In-office, chair side teeth whitening is a safe and effective way of achieving a naturally bright and beautiful smile. However, in order to get the best possible results, you must understand exactly how to take care of your teeth/mouth before and after your teeth whitening treatment.

Pre and Post Teeth Whitening Care:

Before Teeth Whitening Eating: Make sure you eat prior to your teeth whitening treatment. This is because you must wait for at least one hour after the treatment before you eat or drink anything, besides water.

Dental Cleaning: To ensure the best results, make sure that you’ve had a dental cleaning within 6 months of your treatment.

Sores/Cuts: If you have any sores or cuts in your mouth, make sure to talk to your dentist about healing them prior to your treatment to avoid any discomfort.

Piercings: Take out any piercings in your mouth prior to your teeth whitening procedure

After Teeth Whitening (The First Hour):

Drink only water and don’t eat or drink anything else for at least one hour after your teeth whitening appointment.

First 24 hours: Do not consume foods that are likely to cause stains. These include red wine, coffee, tea, colas, tomato sauce, and blueberries.

Don’t smoke: Don’t smoke for at least 24 hours after your teeth whitening appointment.

White spots on teeth: In some cases, you may see white spots on certain areas of your teeth. These are typically caused by calcium deposits or very porous teeth, and they will disappear within 24 hours.

Sensitivity: Some patients will have minor tooth and/or gum sensitivity after their treatment. This will typically dissipate after 30 minutes or so.

Maintaining Your Teeth Whitening Results:

The results of your procedure aren’t going to last forever. To maintain a bright and beautiful smile, you may want to consider one of our at home whitening kits and a follow up treatments every six months to a year to restore the natural shine to your smile.
